As the Operations Manager, you will take ultimate responsibility for the Production Facility including H&S, Lean Methodologies and Premises & Plant. Ensuring that our processes are administrated smoothly and efficiently for the benefit of the customer and the increase of business efficiencies. The Operations Manager will champion the business core values and set a role model like expectation to all staff.
The Operations Department is fast paced with many customer orders running concurrently, it is important that you can prioritise and organise your workload efficiently. A positive attitude to inspire the production facility to exceed customer expectations as customer service focus is essential. An insistence on customers being called 48 hours ahead of a scheduled delivery advising them of ETA with a minimum of 48 hours if there are any potential issues that may prevent DIFOT (Delivery In Full On Time).
You will be part of the Maxwood Group Management Team who all have a strong desire for growth and profitability – a dynamic, hard-working team with a great sense of humour.
Management of MFL Production
To take oversee and have overall responsibility of the weekly DIFOT score and to implement systems to maintain and improve the DIFOT score on all MFL deliveries and share DIFOT score weekly with team
Manage the Production Controller and Team Co-ordinators and ensure that the Team Co-ordinators are leading their teams effectively.
To oversee and advise Team Co-ordinators on any disciplinary issues within the wider team; and liaise with HR and the Managing Manager in respect of any performance issues relating to Team Co-ordinators.
Overall responsibility for Staff Development and reward schemes. Monthly 1-on-1 Meeting with Production Controller and Team Co-ordinators to review progress against strategic goals and personal progression and other HR related issues.
Implement production metrics and reporting with continuous improvement, including but not limited to:
o OEE / Machine Downtime reporting
o Scrap & Rework costs and methods for improvement
o TPM
o H&S
o 5S
To ensure that the LEAN processes are implemented and consistently followed throughout the factory.
Management and control of Production budget including productivity factor and staffing costs
Work with Team Leaders to implement improvements to factory efficiencies to enhance performance in line with business objectives, including Lean principles.
Oversee the development and implementation of SOPs in each area of production
Responsible to maintain high levels of tidiness and orderliness throughout the factory and premises – empower the staff to take ownership of their workstations.
Quality Management System
Strive towards ISO 9001 & 14001 standards with regards to increasing quality and reducing waste with a view to achieving accreditation.
Ensure that Scrap & Rework costs are minimised following the metrics that have been implemented
Health & Safety
Overall responsibility for H&S including monthly H&S meeting with external and internal team
Responsible for ensuring all relevant health and safety measures are in place including training / policy procedures for all operations staff
Factory H&S activities delegated to Team Leader.
IOSH qualified as a minimum.
Monitoring and reduction of LTI’s (or similar measure applicable to our size)
Reporting back to the Management Team on any H&S items or concerns.
Accreditation
Manage FSC requirements
Manage and plan future ISO requirements as above
Manage and plan future relevant requirements and policies, for example Environment
Capital Expenditure
Manage CapEx plan including premises and plant in view of projected growth plans
Rolling updated forecast of requirements
Liaison with Financial Controller in view of Board sign-off
Building Maintenance
Property to be inspected on monthly basis and quotations obtained for any works required for budget approval
Ensure all required works/annual testing etc is carried out as per insurance requirements
Maintain high levels of site tidiness including litter and weed control
Key Role Requirements:
Previous experience of implement good manufacturing practices in a similar production environment including Lean Management
Ability to work within deadlines and cope under pressure
Interpersonal and team-working skills
Actively network with other manufacturing businesses and study best practice in view of implementation in MFL
Excellent verbal communication and written skills
Good IT skills – competent in use of Outlook, Word and basic Excel and experience of ERP systems advantageous
Excellent organisation and time management skills
ISOH Qualified as a Minimum
Track record of having implemented change management
